ChamberBucks Drawings Emphasize Importance of Shopping Local

Another holiday shopping season has come and gone which means the annual Holiday ChamberBucks Drawings, sponsored by the Ord Area Chamber of Commerce, have concluded as well.

Four lucky winners (Tara Reineke, Kate Zangger, Michelle Weber and Ellie Piskorski) each received $500 in Ord Area ChamberBucks as part of the holiday campaign that promotes the importance of shopping local. From November 21 – December 19, local shoppers submitted receipts from Chamber members that reflected a purchase of $5.00 or more – whether their purchase was for gifts, groceries, fuel or even dental work! Each receipt was equivalent to an entry for the ChamberBucks drawings which took place live on KNLV Radio on December 5 and 19.

This year’s campaign results are astounding with a 54% increase in the number of entries and a 86% increase in the dollar amount participants spent with area Chamber members reflected by the campaign. This goes to show that much of what you want and need can be found in our local community, reducing the need to shop out of town at big box stores that offer little to no contribution back to our local community.

The Ord Area Chamber of Commerce and its member appreciate the community’s support and the intentional decisions consumers make to shop local during the holiday season and throughout the year.
