FBLA Launches the Go Green-Recycling Challenge

The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) at Ord High School will launch a recycling challenge to Valley County at the Ord-Madison Football game on Friday, October 21st.  The FBLA will have their new recycling trailer in the parking lot of the football stadium to collect materials!  People can bring plastics #1-7, tin and aluminum cans, paper (newspaper, junk mail, magazines, phone books) and cardboard to the recycling trailer.  Anyone who brings recyclables to the game will win a FREE POPCORN!

The Go Green Recycling Challenge is a key component of the FBLA’s community service program.  The FBLA chapter believes recycling will enhance the safety and beauty of the environment in Valley County.  FBLA members are also researching recycling business opportunities for Valley County.  The FBLA chapter and community volunteers will manage the trailer and haul the recyclable materials to centers in the area.  The FBLA recycling trailer will be stationed in the east parking lot at Ord High School.  Another recycling trailer is located at the Valley County Fair Grounds.

The FBLA and Ord High School gained ownership of the recycling trailer from Heloise Bresley, who was the president of the former nonprofit organization Clean Country.  The trailer was originally funded with a grant from the Nebraska Environmental Trust through the Nebraska State Recycling Association in 2004.

The FBLA organization is sponsored through a partnership between Ord Public Schools and the Valley County Community Foundation Fund!  To learn more about the Valley County FBLA and the recycling challenge contact Jennifer Remmereid or Principal Mark Hagge at Ord High School, 308-728-3241 and visit
