Council Meeting Minutes

Police

The Ord Police Department, 240 South 16th Street, is staffed by four police officers and five dispatchers. The Ord Police Department also has a K-9 unit which is also utilized by surrounding communities. Streets

Ord has 31.5 miles of streets, 25.5 miles of which are hard-surfaced with concrete or asphalt. Approximately 75% of the streets have curbs and 50% have sidewalks. Street maintenance includes street sweeping, snow removal, patching, overlay, crack filling, sanding, parking stall and cross walk painting, street lighting, and repair of concrete streets. Cemetery

The Ord City Cemetery is located in Northwest Ord on North Highway 11. Cemetery records may be obtained at the Ord City Office located at 232 South 16th Street or by calling (308) 728-5791.

Volunteer Fire and Rescue

There are forty-six volunteers that make up the Ord Fire Department including thirteen EMT's. Equipment includes two ambulances, three pumpers, two tankers, a quick attack rig, an equipment truck, and a grass rig. Volunteers help educate the youth in our community during National Fire Protection Week by giving tours and safety demonstrations. Ord Housing Authority

The Ord Housing Authority consists of 129 units for the purpose of providing safe and sanitary housing for low to moderate-income families, elderly and handicapped persons in our area.

The housing authority is made up of three different apartment communities to include 49 units at Parkview Village, 2410 K Street, where the administrative and maintenance offices are also located. There are 30 one-bedroom units at Rolling Hills Terrace on the western edge of Ord, as well as, 12 two-bedroom apartments at Sunrise Villa, 1016 T Street. Additionally, 38 scattered site family units are located throughout Ord and consist of three four-bedroom houses, 27 three-bedroom houses, and eight two-bedroom duplexes.

The agency is fully staffed with office hours 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and requires that a maintenance team member remain on-call for nights, weekends and holidays. For further information call (308) 728-3770, fax (308) 728-7824, or e-mail: ordhouse@micrord.com.

Ord Planning Commission

Ord has a five-member Planning Commission. Members are appointed by the mayor and approved by the city council for a three-year term.
