Latin Flare on the Square

The beautiful, historic Ord downtown square will be radiating with delicious food, fabulous music and craft beer specials on Saturday, November 17th during the Latin Flare on the Square event.

The event will kick off with a delicious Latin inspired dinner and cocktails at Jubilee Events & Catering. Doors open at 5:00 pm for social time and the meal will be served at 5:30 pm. Dinner will be followed by a Latin music concert featuring Daniel Martinez- flamenco guitar stylist and the Jarana Band at the Golden Husk Theatre at 7:00 pm. After the performance, all concert patrons can enjoy $3.00 beer specials at Scratchtown Brewing Company by presenting the concert program.

The Golden Husk Theatre is also hosting a Music Around the World free educational workshop by Daniel Martinez and the Jarana Band on Friday, November 16th at 2:00 pm. Students and educators from the Loup Valley area schools and home-school families are welcome to attend the engaging workshop. The free student performance/educational workshop will feature cultural music around the world using authentic instruments and traditional Latin beats and dances in an interactive format. Youth and educators will have the opportunity to experiment with diverse instruments and learn about Latin culture and the history of music.

Band members are natives of Peru, Mexico and the US and conversant in the folk traditions of their homelands. Jarana Band members inspire a greater understanding of cultures across the world for students and patrons by sharing seasonal customs, native traditions and world view during workshops and performances. Educators who are interested in attending the free educational workshop should RSVP by November 9th to Dahn at the Golden Husk Theatre with the number of students and educators planning to attend the workshop on Friday, November 16th at 2 pm.
