Missoula Children’s Theatre Hosting Auditions in Ord

An audition will be held for the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) production of RAPUNZEL Monday, August 8th, 2016, at the Ord High School new commons area from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The audition is open to youth in Valley County and surrounding communities. Those auditioning should arrive at 1:00 p.m. and plan to stay for the full two hours. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a two-hour rehearsal immediately following the audition.Rapunzel Color Logo

Among the roles to be cast include Rapunzel; the Princes; Madame Gothel; Rapunzel’s parents; the Wood Elves; Ears of Corn and a Potato; Unicorns; Pixies; Gremlins; Billy Goats Gruff; a Troll; Three Bears; a Beaver; Ogres; and Mushrooms. All students in 1st-12th grades are encouraged to audition and up to 60 area students will be cast to perform the production! No advance preparation is necessary. Assistant Directors will also be cast to assist with the technical aspects of the production.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup. MCT Tour Actor/Directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day at The Golden Husk in Ord. A schedule of required rehearsals for each cast member will be available after auditions.

Two artistic workshops for youth will also be available during the week, including a workshop titled, Acting, which will teach the basic tools of an actor’s trade; and a workshop titled, Creating a Character, which will teach youth how to prepare for acting roles. Creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem are all characteristics that are attained through the participation in this unique, educational project. Workshops will be scheduled on Tuesday through Thursday after rehearsals. A sign-up sheet for the workshops will be available at auditions.

All MCT shows are original adaptations of classic children’s stories and fairytales . . . a twist on the classic stories that you know and love. MCT’s mission is the development of life skills in children through participation in the performing arts.

RAPUNZEL will be presented on Saturday August 13th, 2016, with performances at 3:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. in The Golden Husk. The Missoula Children’s Theatre residency is brought to you with the financial support and coordination of the Valley County Community Foundation Fund and The Golden Husk.
