Nebraska’s Big Rodeo 2014 Features Entertainment for Entire Family

Nebraska’s Big Rodeo will provide something for the entire family this year as they present family-style entertainment before each rodeo performance July 23-26.  These special performances will be held in the dance pavilion on the fairgrounds.  Sun Valley Rides will also be open before the rodeo to continue the fun for families.

Wednesday, July 23 6-7 p.m.

Award winning cowboy poet and Nebraska rancher, R.P. Smith will visit Nebraska’s Big Rodeo on Wednesday, July 23rd to headline the organization’s new “family-style” entertainment program.  R.P. will perform on the midway from 6-7 p.m.  Over the past few years R.P. has been supporting his ranching habit by entertaining folks throughout the country. During his performances he shares his brand of cowboy poetry and country commentary, something that he considers a by-product of the beef industry, which has been processed by reciting for ruminates, relatives, and ranchers.RP Smith

The show rural radio network show, “Home Grown” is hosted by R.P.Smith, and broadcasts weekly from the Pine Crest Ranch, his home place, near Broken Bow, Nebraska.  R.P is the fourth generation to raise cattle on the Pine Crest, he says “it still isn’t a real big place but I come from a long line of stubborn and persistent people”.

In his travels to fourteen states and Canada R.P. has had the opportunity to work with some of the top names in the world of western entertainment, he has been a featured entertainer at some of the largest cowboy poetry gatherings in the country.

Thursday, July 24 5:30- p.m.

The KCNI/KBBN Live Band will feature members of the staff of the Broken Bow radio stations, performing a unique blend of country and blues music for fans.  The band will perform in the dance pavilion before Thursday’s night’s rodeo performance.  Come on out and have a seat or dance  the evening away!

Friday, July 25 5:30-7 p.m.

KNLV Radio will host everyone’s favorite talent contest, the KNLV Country Music Showdown on Friday before Nebraska’s Big Rodeo.  Contestants will have the opportunity to advance to the next level of competition after performing in front of a panel of judges and eager fans in Burwell.  Don’t miss this chance to hear the next rising star!

Saturday, July 26 5:30-7 p.m.

Kristina Craig is a Country/Christian singer and songwriter, originally from a small town in the Sandhills of Western Nebraska.  She was a finalist on the ABS Primetime Special, “Six Degrees of Martina McBride,” and was chosen as the “people’s choice” for her performance at the Wild Horse Saloon in Nashville.  Kristina’s newest album is filled with wholesome music ranging from classic country to fun, up-tempos with a touch of rock.

Kristina will be joined by Bobbi LeAnn, also a native Nebraskan and singer/songwriter.   Bobbi is a cowboy church worship leader and current resident of Nashville, Tennessee.  Bobbi shares her inspiration country music style with audiences and is a longtime supporter of Nebraska’s Big Rodeo in Burwell.

Kristina and Bobbi will perform on the midway on Saturday, July 26th from 5:30-7 pm before the rodeo performance.
