Ord-Arcadia TeamMates Chapter Celebrates Mentoring with the One-Hour Walk

Youth, mentors, area businesses, school administrators and staff and community members joined together to celebrate the TeamMates
Mentoring Program during the “One Hour Walk” held on Friday, April 20th at the Ord Public Schools Track.  The one-hour represents the time mentors spend with their mentees each week to make a difference in the lives of youth.  Approximately 130 people registered for the Walk.

During the event, participants enjoyed a free meal , received a t-shirt, and walked to music provided by KNLV.  The event closed with a program to honor mentees, mentors, board members and community sponsors and volunteers who support TeamMates.  Three items were raffled off including Husker Football Tickets, a framed Husker print, and $100 of Chamber Bucks! Three mentee-mentor matches also received awards for the most time spent together during the school year.

Ord-Arcadia TeamMates would like to thank our sponsors, mentors, mentees and their families, community members and the school systems for supporting the One Hour Walk and helping to keep our program strong and successful!  Also, thanks to Morgan Alexander for singing the National Anthem during the event!

The Ord-Arcadia Chapter currently has 45 mentor-mentee matches!  Right now there are 12 children waiting for mentors!  Mentor Jean Stowell stated, “I enjoy visiting with my mentee each week!  The time we spend together is a blessing in my life.  My mentee is very friendly and full of enthusiasm.  The TeamMates Mentoring program is a wonderful way to connect with youth and give back to your community!”  If you are interested in joining the Ord-Arcadia TeamMates  Program, please contact coordinators Dahn Hagge at 308-730-2294 or Rachel Lueck at 308-202-0118.
