Valley County Fair Builds Community

The 2015 Valley County Fair is only a few days away! Whether it’s the 4H activities, bull riding, parade, open class exhibits, live entertainment or youth activities, the county fair brings people together from across Valley County and beyond. The Loup Valley Ag Society has created an impressive lineup of events, offering something for everyone. You can download the complete schedule of events HERE.

You won’t want to miss the Ord FBLA Duck Race on Wednesday, August 5th  at 6:00 pm. You can purchase your ducks in advance at the Chamber office, Farmers Market and local businesses for a chance to win part of $2,000 in Ord Area ChamberBucks that will be awarded to the owners of the first thirty ducks that cross the finish line. Following the Duck Race, head down to the fairgrounds for the Bull Riding.

The Chamber of Commerce support’s the county-wide event by offering a free Pancake Feed Thursday morning which is open to the community as well as all of the 4H participants, parents and volunteers hard at work that morning. Later that day, kids activities begin at 5:30 pm with a pedal tractor pull, turtle races, egg toss, tug of war and more.

Activities begin early Saturday morning with the BBQ Cookoff. If you would like to test out your famous recipe, contact any of the fair board members to sign up for the cookoff. The community will have a chance to taste what the bbq masters grill up beginning at noon. Later in the day Team Penning begins at 6:00 pm, KNLV’s Country Showdown begins at 7:00 pm and the Knights of Columbus Teen Dance takes place from 9:00 pm – midnight.

Of course, this week-long community event doesn’t just happen on it’s own. The Loup Valley Ag Society, 4H Councils, parents, local businesses and volunteers come together to create these memorable experiences that are a part of the exceptional quality of life we all enjoy in Valley County. If you would like to get involved in your community by being a part of the Valley County Fair, contact any member of the Loup Valley Ag Society to learn how you can volunteer.
