Valley County Tourism Prepares for New Fiscal Year

The Valley County Tourism Committee is jumping into a new fiscal year full of ideas and a solid plan of action for sharing the undiscovered destinations and amenities in Valley County with potential travelers.

Throughout May and June 2019, the Valley County Tourism Committee has been developing a strategic plan to guide their efforts during the next fiscal year. The plan outlines their vision and mission, acknowledges our community’s assets, identifies target audiences and outlines big ideas along with priorities and next steps.

MISSION: To promote unknown and underappreciated destinations and events in Valley County to attract those who desire adventure and relaxation for overnight stays, corporate retreats and the enjoyment of our community’s assets.

In recent years, the tourism committee has led several efforts to promote and grow our community by publishing the Venture to Valley County travel guide, having a presence with print ads in national magazines and travel guides, coordinating photo contests, having a dynamic online presence and offering hospitality and resources for guests visiting our area for vacations, events, family gatherings and conferences.

Throughout the 2019-2020 year, Valley County Tourism is committed to enhancing our community’s online presence with stunning photography and videography of our unique destinations, landscapes and events, a redesigned website that illustrates and beauty and vibrancy of our county and the creation of a tourism development fund that will serve as a resource for supporting destination development in Valley County.

As the Valley County Tourism Bi-Annual report illustrates, lodging tax collections in Valley County have grown significantly since 2016 (with a 137% increase between the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 fiscal years) and the plan that has been put in place for the upcoming year focuses on measurable, high-impact outcomes to continue that trend by attracting more “heads in beds” to come enjoy the culture and hospitality, natural wonders, unique destinations and all of the fun to be found in Valley County.
