Welcome Joe Kotulak

Today is a big day for us here at VCED. I’m pleased to welcome Joe Kotulak, a graduate student @ UNL and our intern for the summer. Joe was a participating student in the Vision Valley County 2020 effort last fall. Joe will focus on several redevelopment projects in our area, most notably several downtown development efforts, hike/bike/walking trail development and collaborative building efforts with the City of Ord and Valley County. Mr. Kotulak’s introduction is below. Please join me in welcoming him to the team. ~ Caleb

Joe Kotulak, Summer Intern @ VCED

Greetings! I was born and raised in Omaha, NE.  I attended UNL for my undergraduate studies in architecture and graduated May of 2011 with my Bachelors of Science in Design.  I began my graduate studies that summer with a service learning trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands.  This experience was similar in nature to the approach used this past fall with my involvement in Vision Valley County 2020 as part of the group of UNL students that developed a comprehensive plan.  I have since completed my first of two years of graduate course work at UNL.  Next May I will graduate with a Masters of Architecture degree, and begin a three year process to become a licensed architect.

This summer, I look forward to the opportunities presented for developing several projects for both the county and city of Ord.  This internship experience will help me to better understand funding and approval processes for the built environment, in addition to practicing and developing my skill set as a student of architecture.  I see great potential in the proposals and I am excited at the chance to provide insight and direction.  My hope is to produce projects of merit that will enable the county and Ord to reach both immediate and future development goals.
