WinterFest & Small Business Saturday Offers Promotion Opportunities for Local Businesses

The air is turning crisp and retailers are stocking shelves with holiday decor and gifts which can only mean one thing: WinterFest and Small Business Saturday are just around the corner! On Saturday, November 28, 2015, the community will gather for a variety of activities and events and your business has the opportunity to be a part of the festivities.

Snowball Drop 2014

As an exclusive benefit of membership, Ord Area Chamber members have the opportunity to participate in the annual Snowball Drop. The morning of WinterFest and Small Business Saturday, snowballs of savings will fall from the sky. Your business can offer a discount, gift certificate, free item, or any other special savings to represent one snowball. The lucky shopper who catches a snowball will redeem it for their certificate at the Small Business Saturday Shopping Headquarters immediately following the Snowball Drop. That shopper will then redeem their discount or prize at your business, creating more foot traffic in your business during the holiday shopping season. Additionally, Chamber members can take advantage of their membership benefits by informing the Chamber office of any special holiday open house or business after hour events being hosted by your business. Your event will be promoted on the online community calendar, in Chamber Connections weekly emails and on social media sites. You can also include special holiday store hours. The Ord Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has identified suggested store hours for WinterFest and Small Business Saturday (November 28, 2015) as 9:00 am – 4:00 pm considering the local activity and shopping promotions being offered throughout the day. Many community gatherings will also take place on Thursdays between WinterFest and Christmas (December 3, 10 and 17th). It is suggested that businesses be open until 7:00 pm on those dates in order to take advantage of the holiday shoppers that will be out and about those evenings. Local businesses, groups and families can also be a part of the WinterFest Parade, one of the most popular events during WinterFest! This year’s theme is “There’s Snow Place Like Home in Valley County.” You will WinterFest Paradehave the opportunity to promote your business or organization and send the community a warm holiday message as your float travels through the parade.
