Y.E.S. – Youth Entrepreneur Showcase

The Ord Area Chamber of Commerce, Valley County Community Foundation Fund, and the Ord High School FBLA Chapter are partnering to host the first-ever Youth Entrepreneur Showcase (Y.E.S.) on Friday, January 25th.  The goal is to encourage young entrepreneurs to pursue their dream of owning and operating their own business.  However, this experience will provide them with business, accounting, marketing, and customer service skills that will be valuable no matter what career path they choose.

Space is limited for the number of entrepreneurs that are able to be featured at the event; therefore, youth entrepreneurs who currently have their own product or service based businesses will be applying for booth space.  The youth entrepreneurs who are the most prepared with marketing materials, accounting strategies, order systems, and other important business materials will be selected to participate in the event.  Businesses that are selected will receive the opportunity to record a public service announcement on KNLV Radio which will help promote the Y.E.S. and their business.

Scholarships will be awarded to the top two businesses based on judges’ votes which will help them expand and grow their business. Prizes include award money, one free year of youth membership to the Ord Area Chamber of Commerce (which includes the opportunity to sell their products or services online on, and the opportunity to feature their products and/or services on the shelves of local retailers during the month of February.

The community is invited to attend the Y.E.S. during the Ord Wrestling Invite on January 25th.  The youth will be displaying their businesses from 3:00 – 6:00 pm in the new commons area at Ord High School.

Updates regarding the event will be posted regularly here.
